Apple is preparing for its highly anticipated annual event, WWDC 2022, which will begin next week.
While all eyes are on the tech giant’s iPhone of the Year: the iPhone 14, recent reports suggest that not all models in the upcoming series will work with the A16 chipset.
The iPhone 13, which is Apple’s latest smartphone, boasts the A15 Bionic chip, which is the tech giant’s most powerful chip today, and speculation suggests that the iPhone 14 will include the same chipset.
Reports also reveal that the iPhone 14 Pro model will come with Apple’s A16 Bionic chip.
Earlier, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had speculated that only the iPhone 14 Pro series would feature the A16 Bionic SoC and not the base model, the iPhone 14.

If the rumors are true, then the tech giant will have to come up with some really interesting features for the iPhone 14 if they want to entice iPhone users to upgrade their smartphones, especially iPhone 13 users, as the phone already comes with an A15 chip and costs less than the iPhone 2022.
The iPhone 14 will come in three more models such as the iPhone 14 Pro, the iPhone 14 Max and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, in different sizes and price range.
The A16 chip is reported to be based on TSMC’s existing 5nm process technology and could offer some slight improvements in performance and power savings, providing an upgrade to the A15 Bionic chip.
