Apple’s next iPhone 14 Pro will have a display mode always activated like the Apple Watch, says a new report.
According to an Apple informant, the new iPhone will be able to display a small amount of information “that can be seen quickly” before the screen is unlocked.
This feature would be similar to Android phones that always display basic information, such as time and battery level, on a dark screen while saving energy.
The feature is expected to be part of iOS 16, Apple’s next major mobile operating system, which will be announced at the company’s World Developers Conference next week.
iOS 16 will power the new iPhone 14, which the tech giant is expected to unveil this fall.

IPHONE 14 RUMORS
– Always on screen
– Larger camera shots
– Cuts instead of a notch
– Chipset A16
– 48 MP camera sensor
The news comes from Apple informant Mark Gurman on Bloomberg, writing in the latest installment of his “Power On” newsletter.
“I’ve been told that iOS 16 incorporates future support for an ever-active lock screen, something Apple was originally planning for last year’s iPhone 13,” Gurman says in the latest newsletter.
“This would allow the iPhone to significantly reduce the frame rate on the lock screen and display fast information, similar to the new Apple watches.”
Like the Apple Watch, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max can use low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) panels, which are able to save power with the screen on and prevent the battery from consuming too much power.
According to Apple, it is always enabled by default on Apple Watch Series 5 and later, except Apple Watch SE.
“In this mode, the time will always be visible, along with the face of your watch or your most recent active application,” the company says.
Gurman predicted last year that the iPhone 13 would have an always-on screen, but that turned out to be wrong.
The tech giant may have needed more time to develop a smartphone with LTPO panels that solve the problem of battery drain.

WILL APPLE FINALLY LEAVE NOTCH?
Since the introduction of the iPhone X in 2017, the “notch” has been one of the most hated features of Apple smartphones.
The unsightly black bar houses the front cameras, but it eats away at the screen and is especially obstructive while watching movies or playing games.
Now, a new leak suggests that Apple could finally leave the notch in favor of two clippings at the top of the screen.

IOS 16, which the tech giant calls “Sydney,” is described as a “pretty significant update” by Gurman.
“It will be full of changes to the operating system, including notification updates, iPad multitasking, and Messaging and Health apps,” he says.
Like the iPhone 13, the iPhone 14 is expected to come in four different variations: a standard model, a Mini, a Pro, and a Pro Max.
The always-on feature will be included on the two most expensive iPhone 14 models: Phone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, but not the cheapest models, says Gurman.
IOS 16 is expected to be unveiled at Apple’s upcoming World Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 6-10.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 is expected to be unveiled on September 13, according to another report from Apple-focused iDropNews.
While Apple has yet to confirm or deny the leak, the date would fit well with previous iPhone releases, which usually take place on a Tuesday in mid-September.
According to another report, the cameras of the more expensive iPhone 14 models stand out like never before, in order to house a 48 megapixel Wide camera.
The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, the most expensive of the iPhone 14 models likely starting this fall, will have a square camera shot on the back that will measure 1.44 inches by 1.5 inches (36, 73 mm by 38.21 mm), according to the filtered specifications.
The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will have a square camera shot on the back that will measure 1.44 inches by 1.5 inches (36.73 mm by 38.21 mm), according to leaked specifications, slightly larger than on the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max.
The 48 MP camera system will enable 8K video recording, offering a significant upgrade of 4K video recording capabilities.
Meanwhile, rumors are also circulating about the “iPhone 15”, although it will not be released until 2023.
The iPhone 15 could come with a new charging cable
In 2012, Apple caused massive hysteria among iPhone owners when it changed the original 30-pin charging port to the current Lightning port.
Now, a reliable filter claims that Apple may be preparing to change the charging point a second time.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that Apple will finally abandon the Lightning port for USB-C on its 2023 iPhone, which is rumored to be called the iPhone 15.
The leak comes shortly after the EU announced plans to force all new smartphones, including iPhones, to use USB-C as a standard.
Apple has previously rejected calls to switch to USB-C, amid claims that it would produce an “unprecedented volume of e-waste” and stifle innovation.
