The Jan. 6 panel delays Wednesday’s hearing to give staff time to prepare

WASHINGTON – House Committee investigating Jan. 6 attack on Capitol has adjourned a hearing scheduled for Wednesday to set out its findings on President Donald J. Trump’s attempt to use the Justice Department to cancel the 2020 election, the panel said on Tuesday.

“These are just technical issues,” said Rep. Zoe Lofgren, a California Democrat and a member of the committee, as she entered a meeting of House Democrats. He said that for the staff assistants who were compiling a series of videos that will be shown in the session, “it was overwhelming, so we’re trying to give them some space.”

“It’s not a big deal,” he added, telling reporters that the delay was not a matter of substance or related to the availability of witnesses.

The panel is still scheduled to hold a hearing on Thursday focused on Mr. Trump vows with Vice President Mike Pence to try to persuade him to eliminate Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s victory.
