The Jays trade Borucki to the Mariners for Keenan

The Jays traded Ryan Borucki to the Mariners for minor league outfielder Tyler Keenan.

Borucki was DFA, so it’s likely that someone will take away his exemptions, so getting something back from him is, I guess, a victory.

Sportsnet says Borucki (28) was the Jays’ oldest player. Now that honor goes to Tim Mayza and Danny Jansen. Both were picked up in the 2013 draft. Mayza in the 12th and Jansen in the 16th round.

Keenan was a fourth-round draft pick in 2020. He has been playing third and first base in High A for the Mariners. In 25 games this season he has hit .250 / .349 / .391 with 3 homers, 12 home runs and 29 strikeouts. He is 23 years old.

I don’t see it as a prospect, but then we weren’t going to get much for Ryan. It’s hard to give up a left that can throw 95, but it also has to throw blows.

Welcome to Jays Tyler. Good luck Ryan.
