The Lakers acquire Orlando’s second-round pick

14:04: The trade is complete, the Magic confirmed in a press release (Twitter link). In 2028, Orlando will host the Lakers or Wizards second-round pick, whichever comes best.

12:54 pm: The Lakers will advance to the second round of tonight’s draft by acquiring the Magic’s 35th pick in exchange for cash and a future second-round player, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski tweets.

Orlando will receive the second-round selection from LA in 2028, sources in Khobi Price of The Orlando Sentinel (Twitter link) say.

The Lakers had been trying to get a draft pick and are now in a position to get any expected first-round player to slip a few places. Wendell Moore, Christian Braun and Caleb Houstan may be names to watch, according to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer (Twitter link).

The craft leaves the Magic with spikes number 1 and 32.
