With summer fast approaching, the new season of Fortnite began on Sunday. After Epic Games has fundamentally changed the way people could play the game in recent months, the third season sees Fortnite return to its comfort zone. For starters, Ballers, the hamster ball-like vehicles that Epic Games withdrew in Season X, have returned with some tweaks to functionality. They can now cross the water and a battery limits the distance they can travel. If that’s not your style, the third season features wild boars and mountable wolves, which allow you to keep shooting while riding them.
Epic Games has made some tweaks to Fortnite Island. A new location called Reality Falls includes inflatable mushrooms, purple trees, and arched caves. It is also the home of the reality tree, which will throw seed pods that players can plant. The resulting squad will remain in the same place between matches. Caring for your tree will reward you with special loot. New weapons Epic is adding this season include the designated sniper rifle, which, as its name suggests, is more effective long-range.
As always, there is also a new battle pass to buy, which promises a Darth Vader skin that will accompany the newly launched Obi-Wan cosmetic. That’s not all about Disney properties. Later in the season, Epic will give players a chance to win an Indiana Jones skin. You will have about three months to win everything your battle pass has to offer.
