Loyola College Catholic High School principal has been fired after being charged with alleged sex offenses.

A Victoria police spokeswoman confirmed that detectives from Mernda’s sexual offenses and child abuse team had charged a 67-year-old Mill Park man with two counts of sexual activity against a person and one count of sexual exposure. The crimes allegedly took place in April.

It is unclear where the alleged crime took place.

In a letter to families, Marwin Austerberry, director general of the Catholic schools of the Melbourne Archdiocese’s Eastern Schools, said Favrin had been suspended by the Victorian Institute of Education in connection with a “personal matter. “.

“No staff or college students are involved,” Austerberry told the school community.

“Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Melbourne and Loyola College will not comment further on the temporary suspension.”

In 2020, Favrin received a Victoria Fellowship from the Australian Council of Educational Leaders that recognizes a significant contribution to educational leadership.

Favrin is due to appear before the Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on 13 September.

Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Melbourne declined to comment further on the matter when they contacted The Age on Saturday.
