The Melbourne Dominant West Coast Fever Vixens to win first Super Netball title

West Coast Fever produced an absolute clinic in the Super Netball Grand Final to finally claim an elusive title.

West Coast Fever has secured its first Super Netball title with a 70-59 victory over the Melbourne Vixens in Sunday night’s Grand Final.

The Fever came in as favorites after thrashing the Vixens in their semifinals a fortnight ago, and it was exactly the same story they put on in a clinic in front of a local crowd record at Perth’s RAC Arena.

In Dan Ryan’s first season as Fever’s coach, his team finally managed to claim an elusive national netball title, the first in the club’s 25-year history.

Courtney Bruce set the tone with several deviations in the first quarter when Fever got off a steering wheel. They took a four-point lead in the quarter and were never led from there.

Ryan’s team produced a four-quarter master class, which successfully nullified the Vixens ’star-studded half court for the second time in this series of finals.

The Vixens looked lost for attacking responses and struggled to impact the firing circle, while the Diamonds captain Liz Watson was well below her best level.

Super Shot specialist Rahni Samason was injected at the start of the match to try to keep in touch with the Fever, but the Vixens coach Simone McKinnis surprisingly left her on the bench at the last minute. fourth when the deficit faded.

In contrast, Jhaniele Fowler and Sasha Glasgow were unstoppable as a combination of shots for Fever.

Glasgow nailed several Super Shots and also played a crucial role as an additional feeder for the circle.

She was one of the best goal-scoring games of the season and was named MVP of the Grand Final for her efforts.

Fowler came close to the game and exploded in the second quarter when the high-scorer shot the Vixens defender Jo Weston in a contusion contest.

The Fever lost the 2020 Super Netball Grand Final to the Vixens, but that victory sparked emotional and jubilant scenes when they finally got this first elusive mission.

“We did,” Fever captain Bruce said as he lifted the trophy.
