NeighborWoods is ready to spruce up your yard.
The residential planting initiative was developed to encourage Kelowna residents to help grow and preserve the city’s urban forest.
Kelowna residents can purchase one of six varieties of trees, including the American Hackberry, Galaxy Magnolia, Ivory Silk Japanese Tree Lilac, Maidenhair Gingko, Northern Herald Redbud and Redpointe Maple for just $50 plus tax. Trees are limited to one per household, per year due to demand.
City of Kelowna Urban Forestry Tara Bergeson says they are excited to bring NeighborWoods back this fall.
“We usually host this show in the spring, we had to push things a little later due to supply chain issues. Despite the change in season, fall is actually the perfect time to plant trees because of the weather cooler. We have residents who will join in. help us grow the urban forest in our community this fall,” Bergeson said.
To view tree options and to order a tree, go to the city’s website.
A collection event will take place on September 24 at the Mission Recreation Park Arboretum at 4105 Gordon Drive.
