One of the three new high school graduates has been forced to make a statement after disturbing Facebook posts from his past appeared online.
One of Ten’s new high schoolers says he’s “surprised” by the Facebook posts he made as a teenager that spoke disturbingly about rape and other predatory behaviors.
The new Bach, Jed McIntosh, told The Daily Telegraph in a statement that he “did not remember making” the offensive publications, which are from 2011, when the hope of reality television was only 14 years old.
McIntosh was one of three men Ten presented Monday for the new Bachelor lineup, which was expected to air online later this year.
Felix Von Hofe and Thomas Malucelli will also compete alongside McIntosh in the show, which is being filmed on the Gold Coast this year.
But almost as soon as the trio was revealed, disturbing screenshots of McIntosh’s previous posts on Facebook began circulating.
“Let’s go to battle and crush some p *** y,” he wrote in a November 2011 post.
Another partially censored post, which first appeared on Twitter, said: “Everyone who came in [redacted] ⁇ [friend] and I will rape you myself, so be careful because a storm is approaching, children. “
Speaking to The Telegraph, McIntosh said he had “the utmost respect for women.”
“As a child we say things without understanding the seriousness of the language used, but I can say emphatically as an adult that I disagree with the use of language and the feel of the publications,” he said.
Ten are big High school This week’s announcement had a mixed reaction, with some fans of the franchise coming to social media to complain about the new election.
At the head of the group of unimpressed voices was radio presenter and ex High school contestant, Abbie Chatfield, who noted the lack of diversity. “My question is, why isn’t there a person of color? I hope at least one of them (the bachelors) is bisexual, I don’t know.
“Why are they all white? And why is there a 25-year-old? What’s going on here? He’s too young,” he complained during his Hit Network program. Hot nights with Abbie, on Monday night.
