A select range of Philips Ambilight LED and OLED TVs are now available in Australia and all have Android TV.
Ambilight’s dynamic light show bathes your room with warm, immersive light. The smart LEDs behind the edges of the screen emit the colors of the screen on the wall, in real time.
I understand the appeal of this because a few years ago I attached a smart Philips LED light strip to the back edges of my TV so that it could be set to a bright color of my choice while my family watched TV. .
The difference with Amblight is that the LEDs are integrated into the back edges of the TV and are integrated into the playback, so they change immediately to complement what you’re watching or hearing on the TV.
Philips Ambilight TVs sold in Australia are manufactured by TP Vision Europe BV (TP Vision), a Dutch company based in Amsterdam. TP Vision is a wholly owned company of TPV Technology Limited (TPV) based in China, the largest manufacturer of monitors and TV screens (combined) in the world. You may have heard of one of their AOC brands.
Ambilight leverages cutting-edge Philips technology and smart LEDs deployed behind the edges of the TV screen, Ambilight projects the colors of the screen to the wall in real time by radiating colorful light from two, three, or four sides of the TV screen, automatically synchronized with the display content.
So whether you’re watching sports, movies, music, or games, Ambilight technology creates a more enchanting, engaging, and memorable visual experience.
The post-pandemic era has led to an increase in digital consumption in Australia. According to Deloitte’s Consumer Trends Survey, Smart TV spending alone has risen 64 percent since 2020.
Ambilight has several settings, such as Watch video and music mode. Follow Light mode is even more immersive, as it allows you to change other Phlips Hue lights in a room to create a light show in your room.
The Ambisleep feature helps you sleep peacefully. Spectators can turn off the screen as they leave Ambilight to stimulate a fading sunset with the duration, brightness, and color palette you choose, accompanied by a variety of relaxing sounds from nature. The additional “Sunrise Alarm” element reverses this process, with Ambilight gradually increasing an artificial sunrise at the chosen alarm time.
Soothing images can be accompanied by a selection of music at the volume level you prefer and a screen transition that shows the weather forecast for the coming day. The “Sunrise Alarm” feature has up to five sound options that can be programmed according to your preferences.
Philips 8265, 7906 series and OLED805 series can be found at Harvey Norman online and in stores, with more Ambilight models coming to Australia soon. For more information, visit the Philips Ambilight TV website.
