Gasoline prices soared nearly 6 pence a liter in UK courtyards during the jubilee holiday week to a new record, and drivers warned they could exceed 180 pence this week.
The RAC called for radical government intervention after figures from data company Experian Catalist showed that the average cost of a liter of petrol reached a record 177.9 per cent on Sunday.
This means that filling a typical 55-liter family car with petrol has cost around £ 3 during the week, which was halfway through for almost every school in England and Wales. Diesel prices rose from 182.7 pa liters to a record 185.0 pa liters during the same period.
RAC fuel spokesman Simon Williams demanded more action from the government after the 5 penny-per-liter reduction in fuel tax implemented in March.
“A liter of unleaded is now about 177.88 p. Of fear, while diesel is 185 p., An increase of 2 p. Already this month. With oil above $ 120 a barrel and free sterling still at $ 1.2, the worst is yet to come, ”he said.

“Unfortunately, we expect to see the average price of petrol exceed the 180p mark this week, with diesel advancing to 190p. More radical government action is urgently needed, either in the form of a further tax cut. on fuel or VAT As it stands, drivers will probably not be able to cope unless something is done to help.
“This is fast becoming a national crisis for the country’s 32 million car drivers, as well as for countless companies.”
AA Fuel Price spokesman Luke Bosdet said: “Shock and fear are the only way to describe what happened to the bomb during the mid-term break. No wonder almost half of the drivers stayed home during the extended jubilee bank holidays.
“The forces behind the rise have been oil returning above $ 120 a barrel for the first time since the end of March, combined with rising commodity prices for petrol car demand of summer “.
