The raging cows almost strangled me to death, says the dog walker

Her friend who had accompanied her on the walk called Salvament de Muntanya and was rushed to the hospital, where she underwent two operations and was finally discharged a month later.

Mrs Eley, from Blacko, Lancashire, said the experience was “terrifying”, adding that she thought she was “actually going to die from a cow attack”.

“They pushed me. I was on my hands and knees, and I didn’t know how to get out,” he said, adding that all he could see “was hooves after hooves.”

“I was carrying a hard leather rucksack and they were banging on it. The next minute, the arm of the rucksack had broken off, it had gone around my neck and I was suffocating.

“I’m very lucky to be alive.”

Mrs Eley said she was sharing her experience to urge people to be careful with cattle, especially when they have calved, where they can be more temperamental.

“Always keep dogs on leashes like mine. When you’re around cattle, especially cows with calves, you just have to be careful and know they can charge and attack.”
