There are fears over the health of the Oscar winner after a disturbing video emerged from the Australian premiere of his new film, Elvis.
A video of Tom Hanks giving a speech on stage at the Australian premiere of Elvis’ new biographical film has raised concerns about his well-being.
The 65-year-old Oscar-winning actor gave a speech before the Gold Coast screening earlier this month, and his hands seemed to tremble as he held the microphone.
Hanks, who stars as Elvis’ manager Tom Parker in the film directed by Baz Luhrmann, briefly tried to change hands as he spoke on stage during the June 4 event.
“There’s no better place in the world to make a movie than right here on the Costa Dorada,” he told the audience, before making a blatant reference to a major Aussie liquor store chain.
“I have shot films in Morocco and Los Angeles and in New York and Seattle and Berlin. None of them have what the Gold Coast has, and what is that? Two words. None of these other cities have Dan Murphy. What a man I knew so well. “
The actor seemed to try to control his trembling hand by placing his left hand at the bottom of the microphone, below his right, but it didn’t seem to work.
“We had an absolutely wonderful time with all of you,” Hanks continued, to the delight of the fans.
“There is something about the people and the place of the Costa Daurada that makes everyone walk with a confident look on their face. We were part of that. Your confidence, joy and desire to live are seen in ours by Movie “.
The Hollywood star concluded: “You have a wonderful proactive golden son in Baz Luhrmann who loves Australia more than kangaroos, more than Dan Murphy.”
Starring Hanks Elvis alongside 30-year-old American actor Austin Butler in the lead role, while Olivia DeJonge stars in Presley’s wife, Priscilla.
The film was shot on Queensland’s Gold Coast in 2020, when Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson infamously contracted Covid-19.
Elvis opens in Australian cinemas on 23 June.
