The initial design of the Street Fighter 6 logo was not well received earlier this year. When Capcom released it in February, were players a little disappointed? No, let’s be honest, they saved it completely. And although we know that any logo design these days will have its detractors, in this case, the answer was a resounding no and we had to agree.
The logo was unusually minimal and looked a bit like it was created with the simplest logo makers; in fact, just a couple of days after its release, the creator of a $ 80 stock image that offered to sell the exclusivity to game maker Capcom emerged. . Such a debacle could have seen the design included in our list of the worst logos of 2022 so far, but fortunately the company has fixed things and created a new design that looks much better, and is certainly very smarter (maybe they read our guide on how to design a logo).

Capcom Company’s original Street Fighter 6 logo was as far away as the previous Street Fighter logos. It simply had an “S” and an “F” in a hexagon. It was downright boring and seemed to have nothing to do with the history of the Street Fighter franchise, which led fans to describe it as “terrible looking and lazy,” “weird,” “like an app icon.” with six notifications “and even saw similarities. to the Scooby-Doo logo.
But worse than that, the design bore a strange resemblance to a user-created Adobe Stock image called xcoolee, in a hexagonal layout that is available with several different initials. And while stock images definitely have their place, this choice didn’t fit here.
Capcom has just released a new trailer for the game, and fans will be relieved to see that the logo has improved a lot (if they’re happy it’s another matter). It is still hexagonal (and, we will see that there may be a reason). But perhaps by reacting to the claims that the initial logo was too simplistic, they have done something much smarter. Instead of a simple SF in the hexagon, we now have a hexagon shaped like the number 6.

But better yet, turn the hexagon sideways and you’ll also have the number VI in Roman numerals, which reflects the numbering convention used in the previous game brand (see above). While not everyone will notice it in the static logo, it makes a lot more sense when it’s animated, as we can see in the new trailer below. Putting Street Fighter text above instead of below the logo also seems like an improvement.
Fans are not yet unanimously convinced, but the response so far has been much warmer than that received by the first logo design. “Now it looks like an S, a 6 and a Roman VI. It’s a bit of a genius,” one player wrote on Twitter. “I really lean towards hip hop aesthetics and I love it!” someone else commented. while “I’m modernizing SF3 vibrations,” said another fan. “Once again it shows that cyberbullying works,” he joked.
Some have pointed out that there is also another third representation of six in the logo, as the hexagon has six sides, suggesting that the devil’s work is underway.
Street Fighter’s original logos weren’t the most aesthetically pleasing designs with their striking gradients and raw fonts, but they perfectly conveyed the arcade feel of the ’90s and the graffiti backgrounds of the original game. The new improved Street Fighter 6 logo follows this tradition very well, recovering graffiti and Roman numerals while reflecting the gameplay and much more advanced graphics of the upcoming game.
