Get ready for a wet weekend, Ontario. Several rounds of rain are on the way for people in the southern half of the province over the next few days. There are likely to be scattered storms throughout the region on Saturday, while on Sunday more and more widespread rain will arrive. More information on what to expect in the coming days, below.

SATURDAY: DISPERSED STORMS BREAK IN SOUTHERN ONTARIO
South winds will allow more humid air to pour over southern Ontario for our Thursday day. While there won’t be much energy for the storms to work, there will be plenty of humidity in the atmosphere to feed abundant rainfall where the storms appear.
The best chance for storms will fall alongside the lake breeze pushing inland with the heat of the day. Storms should be kept below severe limits, with heavy rain and lightning as the main threats.

A second round of storms is possible in southwestern Ontario after Saturday’s sunset, as a possible storm line enters from Lake Huron.
High daytime temperatures will reach most of southern Ontario, and afternoon readings will rise between the 1920s and 1920s in much of the region.
SUNDAY: EXPANDED RAIN PROBABILITY SOUTHERN ONTARIO
A low-level swing above the northern parts of Ontario and Quebec will cause a wet Sunday in much of central Canada.
During Sunday, several rounds of desolate rain are likely to sweep the eastern Great Lakes. Heavy rain will move through southern Ontario on Sunday morning, gradually advancing into eastern Ontario and southern Quebec throughout the day.
This weekend’s rainfall totals will not drop the bucket in any way. We can expect 5-10 mm of widespread rainfall in southern and eastern Ontario, with higher totals likely to the north. Locally heavier totals are possible in storms.
High temperatures will be slightly below the season due to clouds and rain, but readings below the season in mid-June are still relatively comfortable.
NEXT WEEK: A WARMING TREND FOR CENTRAL CANADA
A heat wave south of the border will begin to affect our weather next week.
Next week there will likely be several days of seasonal temperatures in southern Ontario and Quebec, with daytime highs between the top 20s and nearly 30 possible in some areas. However, easterly winds on Lake Ontario would likely keep the Greater Toronto Area cooler all the time. The heat could also pose a risk of storms sometimes next week.
We are looking forward to a cold front towards the end of next week which will help reduce the heat and lower the temperatures for next weekend.
