Roosters coach Trent Robinson annihilated the referee after his team’s loss to the Panthers on Friday night, calling a decision “horrible” and busting several others he opposed.
The Tricolors ’mentor was backed by rugby league legend Cameron Smith, who described a penalty against prostitute Sam Verrills as a“ shocker ”in post-Nine coverage.
Verrills ’penalty, which saw the Roosters peck at a dangerous entry against Scott Sorensen, resulted in the Panthers’ back rower falling over the defender and putting his head in a dangerous position.

Referee Gerard Sutton whistled for a foul on Verrills.
“This is just a horrible decision. We shouldn’t let it be tried in the end, but there have been so many bad decisions tonight,” Robinson said at his post-match press conference.
“We had the same referee the last game and it was 30 offside unstoppable and it was a 3-1 penalty and it was like, ‘Well, that’s normal.’
“And then at every opportunity (in the Panthers clash) … it was Sam Verrills, we also had the sin (against Angus Crichton) … we don’t play rugby. Game, send it to the trash d there, don’t give them a chance.

“And then the offside at the rehearsal line … it just gave them chances. The offside on both sides. You can call (Isaah) Yeo, you can call (Nathan) Cleary constantly, but if you don’t do it. penalizing them, you end up with 28 percent possession. “

Despite Robinson’s comment on possession, both sides had 50 percent of the foot.
A first-class ball from Nathan Cleary to Izack Tago with about 15 minutes to go stole the lead for Penrith, before the first regents added another try and closed out a 26-18 win.
“It wasn’t a good enough performance (from the referee) tonight,” Robinson said.
“Nat Butcher’s in the end there … they’re big decisions you can’t go wrong, and it wasn’t good enough.”
The Cleary bullet sends a young weapon
Smith was stunned at the Verrills penalty.
“This entry from Sam Verrills … is an entry that teaches you at the age of six or seven in junior football,” Smith said.
“This is not a dangerous entry. It is not his responsibility to worry about where the ball carrier ends up landing. And that is the explanation that Gerard Sutton gives there.
“I was refereed by Gerard Sutton many, many times throughout my career, and he’s a great referee, but that’s a surprise.”
Robinson has another problem to regret after the prop Sio Siua Taukeiaho was reported for an ugly high shot to Viliame Kikau.
The Panthers ’subsequent paddle overcame an assessment of head injuries and again had a considerable impact on the game, scoring a try, triggering a series of storm races and marking his authority on defense.
Rugby League immortal Andrew Johns described the Fiji international as a “genetic freak” in post-Nine coverage.
The Panthers and Roosters are ready for a farewell to round 17.
