The Roughriders cancel the practice amid the COVID-19 outbreak

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are dealing with an outbreak of COVID-19.

On Monday, the Riders announced that “several” members of the organization had tested positive for the virus and now say six more players have COVID-19 for a total of 10.

As a result, the team canceled training on Wednesday.

“The club continues to follow all CFL COVID-19 protocols and is in regular contact with the CFL Medical Committee for guidance and experience,” the team said in a statement. “At the moment no decision has been made on Thursday’s training sessions, nor this weekend’s match against the Toronto Argonauts.”

The Roughriders played Saturday with the Argonauts in the Atlantic Touchdown, losing 30-24 at Raymond Field in Wolfville, NS, home to the Axemen of Acadia University.

The 4-2 Riders host Argos 2-2 at Regina’s Mosaic Stadium on Saturday night to close out Week 7 action at the CFL.
