While tourists and local residents enjoy the sun on Lake Okanagan, the shoreline along City Park is full of rubble.

A Kelowna resident who has lived in the area for five years says he has never seen it so badly.

“It’s true that this is from the far end of the back next to the bridge, but it’s pretty bad all the way down and absolutely dirty down the bridge,” the resident said.

Rotary beach is also full of rubble.

The BC River Forecast Center issued a flood alert on Monday, July 4 for Mission Creek. Okanagan Lake levels also rose after the last gust of water in mid-June.

Following a local state of emergency on June 14, due to isolated flooding along Mission Creek, emergency officials have asked the public to leave the washed waste on the shore until the levels of water down as it helps protect against coastal erosion.

Lake Okanagan is located just above the full pool at 342,582 meters. The complete pool is 342.48 meters.
