Sadio Mane is close to a £ 35.1m transfer to Bayern Munich, and the German club’s sporting director has now confirmed that an agreement has been reached.
At one point, it looked like Bayern’s low ball approach could see that talks with Liverpool were completely over.
But after ridiculous offers of £ 25m and £ 30m, including unattainable add-ons, the two clubs reached an agreement on Friday.
Bayern will pay up to £ 35.1 million for the 30-year-old, with £ 27.5 million up front and £ 7.6 million in more realistic bonuses.
Sports director Hasan Salihamidzic flew to Merseyside later in the week alongside Mane’s agent Bjorn Bezemer before successfully returning to Germany late on Friday.
On landing at Munich International, Salihamidzic told Torben Hoffmann of Sky Sport Germany: “Yes, he will come.”
This is a minor update, but it officially confirms the reports of the two countries, with Mane now having to undergo a medical consultation with Bayern before finalizing his change.
However, Liverpool will have to wait until Tuesday at the earliest before marking any sale of their number 10, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Romano, almost certain to reformulate information from other places, reports that Mané will undergo his medical on Tuesday before signing a three-year contract with Bayern.
The striker is said to be in line for a £ 360,000 a week salary, which is considerably higher than Liverpool could have offered if he had signed an extension.
Virgil van Dijk is currently the Reds’ highest earner with around £ 220,000 a week, with the MirrorDavid Maddock suggests that Alisson, who signed a new six-year deal last summer, is in a similar bracket.
Mohamed Salah and Thiago are also among Anfield’s top earners, with new signing Darwin Nunez, apparently Mane’s replacement, falling as he approaches £ 140,000 a week.
