The footage also showed gameplay mechanics for choosing locks, as well as some third-person shooter sequences. The images also showed the game’s capital, New Atlantis, which seems to be a big, bustling city where players will accept missions and learn more about the world.
Starfield’s character creation system was also shown in the footage, and Howard called it Bethesda’s most extensive to date. There are also optional features that players can select, and each has advantages and disadvantages. In addition, Starfield will even allow players to create and customize their own spaceships and then blow them up.
In discussing Starfield’s size, Howard also confirmed that Starfield has more than 1,000 planets, and each is open and available for players to explore.
Starfield was originally scheduled to launch this November, but was delayed until 2023 along with Redfall as Bethesda continues to add polish. Once released, Bethesda Game Studios’ next game will be The Elder Scrolls VI.
