THURSDAY: CHANCE OF COLD WEATHER THROUGH ALBERTA

Thursday is shaping up as another active day on the prairies, with the risk of severe storms that are spreading through Alberta during the day.

Strong storms are likely to develop along the foothills during the day on Thursday, from there moving eastward as we head into the evening hours.

Supercells are possible. Stronger storms could produce heavy hail, damaging gusts of wind and heavy rainfall. One or two tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

Keep a close eye on your watches and warnings as you make your day on Thursday and have a plan in mind if you need to take immediate action to stay safe from a dangerous storm.

The risk of storms will slowly shift east on Friday as the low surface responsible for the last round of storms climbs into Saskatchewan, pointing east Alberta and Saskatchewan with a storm threat once again. .

Warmer temperatures are expected throughout the region this week, with a couple of days between mid and 20 degrees above 30 degrees on weekends and weekends. Higher season temperatures are expected for next week, but no extreme heat is seen.

Meteorologists are also looking at the potential for a major system this weekend, as a developing low-pressure system could hit the region with possible widespread rainfall and storms, especially in parts of Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
