The tropical system will affect central Florida

Most of the heavy rain associated with aa disorganized tropical system is staying in South Florida, as expected. Some tropical showers will continue to be possible until Saturday evening. Otherwise, under cloudy skies, the highs will only reach the lower 80s.

A tropical climate system will bring rain to central Florida, although some areas will be affected much more than others.

Tropical storm warnings were issued early Friday for Brevard and Osceola counties, as the system could become Alex, the first named storm of the 2022 hurricane season later in the day.

Potential Tropical Cyclone 1 remains an extremely disorganized system, as South Florida is affected by heavy rains. No change in state or force is expected before the disturbance moves across Florida, according to Saturday’s update at 2 a.m. from the National Hurricane Center.

The uncertainty cone, the predicted path of potential tropical cyclone one, was changed early Friday, showing southern Brevard County included.

System rain is likely to start on Friday night, with as much wet weather as possible throughout Saturday.

“Osceola and Brevard counties will see the heaviest rain,” meteorologist Troy Bridges told News 6.

From 2 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, computer models showed that these areas could see up to 3 inches of rain and gusts of wind over 45 mph.

Light rain is expected in and around Orlando, with an estimated 0.22 inches of rain in Orlando; Sanford to receive 0.27 inches; Cocoa Beach for 1.24 inches; and Daytona Beach will have 0.02 inches of rain on Saturday at 9 p.m.

“If we see any change in the cone, we could see a significant difference,” Bridges said.

The hurricane season lasts until December 1st.
