A shocking video shows an armed 12-year-old boy stealing a Michigan gas station and firing a shot when the secretary, confused, asks “are you serious?”
The boy told police he “did not do it for money” after being arrested in the blatant and full-light attack at 4pm on Wednesday at the Marathon petrol station in Hartford.
“He said he would have thrown the money down the drain. He didn’t give us an explanation as to why he did it,” Lt. Mike Prince told WZZM 13.
The child can be seen in the video queuing up behind another customer at the counter before approaching the clerk and asking her to hand over the cash.
“Put the money in your bag,” the boy says as he pulls a gun out of his backpack.
A horrified store clerk asks “What?” before the child repeats his demand.
“Are you serious?” she asks.
In response, the boy grabs the weapon and points it at the ceiling and fires a single warning shot. The clerk trembles with fear.
“OKAY!” She shouted, grabbing her purse from behind the counter.
“Here. To go out. Bye. Grab it, ”he tells the boy as he puts the bank deposit bag in his backpack.

He then casually leaves the front of the store before reportedly fleeing.
Hartford Police Chief Tressa Beltran was returning to the police department a block from the gas station when she received a call about the robbery, WZZM reported. The chief arrived at the gas station in 90 seconds with other officers arriving shortly afterwards, police told the television channel.
The boy was arrested a few blocks away, police said.
According to police, the 12-year-old had gone to school that day and discussed with a classmate which petrol station would be the easiest to steal in the city.
“Every day I see something new in this job. I have been a full-time police officer for 38 years. What really surprised me was that he didn’t show any emotion, “Lieutenant Prince told WZZM.
