Five spoilers from the Ms Marvel episode follow
Mrs. Marvel’s last episode was a cry (and no, we won’t stop getting excited about the show. It’s literally impossible).
In addition to being an impressive and emotional roller coaster that explores generational healing in a way that would melt even the most stony hearts, it threw a key into the works. One that changes the direction of the end.
Episode five surprised us all by killing its main antagonist Najma (Nimra Bucha).
Najma drew a 180 in his evil ways when he sacrificed himself to close the veil that was unwittingly opened during his duel with Kamala (Iman Vellani).
His act of self-denial was completely unexpected considering that he has killed and sacrificed his relationship with his son Kamran (Rish Shah) in his quest to open the veil and return home.

Kamala convinced Najma to do so when Kamala reminded her how much Kamran needed her and how her actions robbed ClanDestine partner Aisha (Kamala’s great-grandmother) of the opportunity to be with her family (“her actions “are the direct murder. of Aisha (Mehwish Hayat).
Overcome by remorse, she absorbs the energy of the veil (or lets it absorb it, honestly, we can’t say) by calling Kamran’s name in the process as she dies.
It is this moment that changes the course of Mrs. Marvel.
Najma’s death seems to awaken something in Kamran, which can be seen manifesting a power similar to Kamala for the first time.
We know that Kamran was unable to activate his powers thanks to a previous conversation between Najma and Kamala. In episode three, Najma reveals that the bracelet Kamala is wearing helps her unlock the powers of the Noor and hopes that one day she will do the same with Kamran.

Advance this last episode and Kamran will be able to access his powers without using the bracelet, which can make him stronger than Kamala. At least for now.
He is also seen using it when the Damage Control Department (DODC) finally locates him after seeking Bruno’s help. Kamran, learning fast what he seems to be, has mastered his skills, setting him up perfectly to pick up where his mother left him.
Kamran was born on this plane (unlike the Noor dimension), so he is unlikely to resume exactly the same mission as his mother in breaking the veil to find his way to his ancestral home, but his death could have caused it. a desire for revenge.
Although she has abandoned him, Kamran is determined that Najma will look for him again and insists on staying with Bruno (Matt Lintz) so that his mother knows where to find him.
When Bruno reminds him that he left him to fend for himself against the DODC, Kamran replies by saying:
“She wouldn’t leave me behind as a kind of orphan.”

His unwillingness to accept this truth may make it difficult for Kamran to believe that his mother would give up his life. Not when it meant leaving him behind or closing the veil she had fought so hard to open.
If so, it would prepare him for a confrontation with Kamala in the end, whom he could very well hold responsible for his death. To be fair, it seems more likely that Kamala will kill her than that Najma will choose to give up the long mission of her life and her life to save others. He was a rather selfish human being.
While Ms. Marvel has moved away from the comic book narrative, there are some elements that have moved into the show and a betrayal of Kamran could be one of them.
In the comics Kamran and Kamala almost have a love affair until he kidnaps her. Kamran tries to indoctrinate her into an evil organization led by the radical inhuman terrorist lineage whose mission is to eliminate all non-humans from the earth. While a betrayal of Kamran may not translate directly from a page to a screen, its duplicate nature would work in this context.

Given that we are one episode from the end of Ms Marvel, the introduction of another big bad seems very unlikely. The DODC has been breathing down Kamala’s neck from the first moment, but they have not established themselves as a presence threatening enough to properly place them in that position.
Kamran seems like a much more likely route to follow and the deception is already embedded in the DNA of their relationship thanks to his comic book story.
We can’t confirm what’s in store, but construction so far has made the finale a success. We trust Ms. Marvel.
