Windsor police say they are looking for possible “armed and dangerous” suspects after an altercation at the mall that caused a man to be stabbed several times.
The Crime Unit of the Windsor Police Service is actively investigating the incident as an attempted murder and is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect.
Officers attended a parking lot on 3600 Island Sandwich Street to report a stabbing shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday.
Police located an injured man who appeared to have been stabbed several times. The victim was taken to hospital, where it was determined that the injuries did not endanger his life.
The suspects had fled before police arrived. Through the investigation, it is believed that the suspects involved fled in a silver sedan and newer model.
Investigators believe the incident stemmed from a previous altercation that took place at approximately 4:15 p.m. in the shopping area of the mall, located on 3100 Island on Howard Avenue.
Police say the suspects and the victim were also believed to have had an incident outside the mall. It is believed that the victim and the suspects do not know each other.
Investigators are requesting that anyone who has captured a video or image of the incidents or the suspects contact police immediately. Suspects may have entered the mall’s stores and investigators are asking companies to check their surveillance cameras.
The first suspect is described as a slender, well-shaven white man in his 20s who wore a black baseball cap, a black “Champion” hoodie, black pants and black sneakers, and a surgical mask. during the stabbing incident.
The second suspect is described as a 20-year-old white man in a black hooded sweater, black pants and black shoes.
This is still an active investigation and more than two suspects may have been involved. Investigators are currently seeking any information related to the case.
Police say the weapon, which is believed to be a knife, has not been recovered and the suspects should be considered armed and dangerous. If you see suspects, do not approach and call 911 immediately.
