Microsoft is adding a new game performance indicator to its Xbox on Windows application today to let you know if a title works well on your computer before you continue and download it. While system requirements have always been listed, this simple tag makes it much easier to get a good idea of whether a game is right for your computer at a glance.
The Xbox app compares the performance of a computer game to specifications similar to yours and generates a prediction about how well the game will work. “If your computer isn’t up to the task of running a graphically demanding game, you’ll be able to see the game system requirements for more details on what you need to run the game,” says Tila Nguyen, senior product manager. lead your Xbox experiences at Microsoft.

However, not all games will have a performance indicator immediately. “As we continue to learn about the performance of a game on similar computers, you may not see a performance check for each game (especially recently added games) until we have enough information to share a recommendation,” he says. Nguyen. Despite this, Microsoft’s rating system, or the game’s performance tuning indicator, as Microsoft calls it, still seems like an easy-to-use alternative to third-party tools and websites like Can You Run It. your computer is capable of running games.
In addition to the performance indicator, there are some improvements in the navigation within the Xbox application and the search tool. All navigation is now in the sidebar, and game facilities are displayed and can be tracked in a new queue at the bottom left of the app. The search has now improved the accuracy of finding games, including EA Play and Ubisoft Connect.
Microsoft has been testing these new additions for the past six months. If you’re interested in trying out future updates, all you have to do is download the Xbox Insider app and turn on Windows Games preview.
