Qualcomm unveiled its new flagship chipset Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and manufacturers are now rushing to upgrade their performance-oriented devices. Xiaomi has already introduced the 12S series, and is also about to give us a Redmi phone with the new top chip.
Brand leader Lu Weibing, also known as William Lu, revealed to Weibo that a new Redmi K50 flagship is in the process and will arrive “soon” with the Qualcomm platform.
Lu re-posted an image that Xiaomi shared earlier, confirming 33% better power efficiency of the Plus CPU and 30% of the GPU. We were expecting the phone to be called the Redmi K50 Ultra, but since the series is still tied to the domestic market, we’ve heard virtually nothing about a follow-up.
Some reports suggest that the name will be Redmi K50S, similar to the Xiaomi 12S series. However, in the past, S has indicated a special member of Redmi’s lineups instead of an update.
