One more week, another rumor about a Nintendo Direct happening in June.
Following the live broadcast of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 last week, rumors are circulating about a third-party follow-up later this week.
According to Nacho Requena, editor of the Spanish-language gaming magazine Manual, the next issue will be a new direct broadcast focused on third-party publisher titles. Requena dropped the following bomb during a recent live broadcast: “We should have a Nintendo Direct this coming Tuesday.” Requena added, and encourages VGC for the translation: “This will focus mainly on third-party games, that’s what I’ve been told I expected.” Tuesday in the States would be tomorrow, June 28th.
This corroborates a recent stream from Australian video game writer Alanah Pearce, who also said she believed a new Nintendo Direct would arrive on the 29th.
However, Requena did not finish. He went on to say that he had been told that “some Persona game will be present” and that he had been told that “there will be another game that has been available for a long time on other platforms. It has been available for four years now”.
Come with me here because this may be a stretch, but we’ll see. Last year, former U.S. publisher Kotaku, now author of Axios Gaming Stephen Totilo, mentioned on Twitter that he had a source within Rockstar who had confirmed a Red Dead Redemption 2 port for Nintendo Switch and “Switch Pro”. RDR 2 is now four years old. Could this be the moment when Rockstar pulls the curtain on this supposed port?

I know, you’re probably tired of reading stories about how a Nintendo Direct might arrive right now. The lack of a Nintendo showcase during the Summer Game Fest, also known as Keigh-3, seemed to leave a real gap in the lineup. Given E3’s long tradition of being the latest press conference at the door, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Nintendo launch a Direct as the month draws to a close.
For now, let’s look at Nintendo’s social channels and wait to see if a new Direct materializes.
