There has been a fire in an apartment building in the Westdale area, another fire in the city of Hamilton in the last two days.

The Hamilton Fire Department is at the scene of a structural fire on Glen Rd. between Tope Crescent and Macklin St. North.

Firefighters rushed to find a well-affected fire on the 11th floor of the building.

Reports say smoke could be seen coming from an upstairs balcony, and crews say the unit was badly damaged.

The fire is considered suspicious and the Fire Department office has been contacted.

Firefighters and emergency services said no one was injured.

Just yesterday (June 18) a fire in downtown Hamilton caused significant damage.

An empty four-story commercial building located at 206 King St. West caught fire.

Hamilton Fire Chief David Cunliffe said the building suffered a major structural collapse on all four walls.

The fall of the wreckage damaged a building of an A&W restaurant, as well as several cars parked on a plot of land immediately north of the destroyed building.
