These Ottawa schools will be closed on Mondays for face-to-face learning

Several Ottawa schools will remain closed for face-to-face learning on Monday as hydro equipment continues to work to restore energy after the May 21 storm.

Both the Ottawa Carleton District School Board and the Ottawa Catholic School Board said schools that held power at 3 p.m. on Sunday would be open for face-to-face learning on Monday.

The OCDSB announced that 10 schools will remain closed Monday for face-to-face learning, while the Ottawa Catholic School Board says three schools will remain without electricity. The two boards say closed schools will move to remote learning on Monday.

OTTAWA CARLETON DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

The Ottawa Carleton District School Board says 10 schools will be closed Monday.

Closed schools for face-to-face learning are:

  • Arch Street Public School
  • Bell Institute
  • Brookfield High School
  • Elizabeth Wynwood Alternative School
  • Fielding Drive Public School
  • Merivale Institute
  • Pinecrest Public School
  • Riverview Alternative School
  • Sir Winston Churchill Public School
  • Confederation Education Center

These schools will move on to distance learning on Monday.

OTTAWA CATHOLIC SCHOOL BOARD

The Ottawa Catholic School Board says only three schools remain without electricity nine days after the storm and will switch to e-learning on Monday.

The three powerless schools are:

  • Our Lady of Peace
  • Sacred Heart
  • Santa Monica

All other Ottawa Catholic School Board schools have power and will be open for face-to-face learning on Monday.

The Ottawa Student Transportation Authority says Monday’s service will be based on schools open from 2 p.m. on Friday.

Santa Monica School

The Ottawa Catholic School Board says St. Monica will reopen to students and staff the day after the electricity is restored.

Santa Monica School suffered major roof damage during the May 21 storm.

“The roof is secured, covered and inspected by engineers. The building itself is considered safe for students and staff to return,” the board said of St. Paul’s School. Monica.

“Water damage is contained in the gym and two classrooms. This school section will be cordoned off for the rest of the school year to allow for repairs and improvements, including the installation of an air conditioning unit for the gym.”

OTTAWA STUDENT TRANSPORT AUTHORITY

The Ottawa Student Transportation Authority says the school bus service on Monday will be based on schools open from 2 p.m. Friday.

“No changes will be made to transportation plans over the weekend, even if more schools have electricity,” OSTA said.

ALGONQUIN COLLEGE

Algonquin College says all classes, both virtual and face-to-face, will resume with regular Monday hours on the Ottawa campus.

“The faculty, coordinator, chair, and dean’s program teams are working to develop recovery plans for the canceled Ottawa campus classes. These plans will be communicated to students upon their return,” he said. a message to students and faculty this weekend.

All online AC courses will be resumed and internships that were postponed will be resumed.
