Thieves found “cold, damp and shaky” in a prey after police chase

Two car thieves full of water have been arrested in a Macedonian dam, accused of driving police during a chase through north-west Melbourne overnight.

Police say they first noticed a man and a woman in what appeared to be a new black Triton utility vehicle shortly before 1am in Pascoe Vale, north Melbourne, in the early hours of the morning.

After running the search, it appeared the vehicle had been stolen and police tried to intercept it, when the driver exited at “erratic” speed, they said.

Officers, with the assistance of a police helicopter, followed the route through Broadmeadows, Sunbury and then Macedon.

Police used stop poles to puncture the tires and stop the vehicle on Black Forest Road in Macedonia.

Biting into the area, members of the uniform and the dog squad approached the couple after they ran out of the vehicle thrown at the private property.

Police dog Ted and his driver drove officers to a farm outlet.

“The cold, wet and trembling couple found themselves half submerged trying to escape,” police said.
