We all did, we’re on the other side of Keigh-3 and the video game release dates are starting to flow again.
This week we see Fall Guys for free, Naraka: Bladepoint hits Xbox, Sonic Origins turns on the shelves and Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes gives us an excuse to fall in love with the Three Houses again.
June 21st
Fall Guys: Free for All (XSX, XBO)
I’ve only added Xbox as a platform, but that’s only because the free Fall Guys debut will mark its arrival on the Xbox platform. The game will be free for all platforms where it is currently available.
Farming Simulator 19: Ambassador Edition (PS4, XBO)
If you’re wondering why Farming Sim 19 has another retail release, it’s because the 2019 edition is considered a fan favorite. If you like Farming Simulator, or just need to hit a hole in the game shelf full of conversation pieces, this is your chance.
Shadowrun Trilogy: console edition (NS, PS4, XBO)
The remasters of the three classic Shadowrun games will hit consoles this week. These titles are among the best classic CRPG games and include the much-loved sci-fi campaign Shadowrun TTRPG. If you’ve never played them before, this is the perfect time to get into it.
Shipwreck Party (NS)
Another retail reissue, this time for Switch. Wreckfest is a lot of fun, but it’s worth a look if you haven’t played it.
June 23
Autobahn Police Simulator 3 (PS5, PS4)
For those who feel the need for a completely legal speed, you can now chase the criminals along the fastest stretch of the highway in the world.
Naraka: Bladepoint (XSX)
The popular Battle Royale title arrives on Xbox Series X | S and Game Pass. 60 players fall on an island, all are gods of martial arts and pandemonium reigns. One thing to keep in mind: Naraka: Bladepoint has not had OCE servers so far. Maybe it’s the change with the Game Pass drop, but just keep in mind if you try it this weekend – there may be a delay.
Sonic Origins (PS5, XSX, PC, NS, PS4, XBO)
Sonic Origins, the latest in a long line of classic Sonic collections, contains Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD. It was made long before the release of the game’s extremely weird pre-order content, though it looks like what’s really in the package are the games you remember, with some new modes. Anniversary mode, for example, expands games to widescreen displays and offers endless lives.
Tour de France 2022 (PS5, XSX, PC, PS4, XBO)
I’m absolutely punk in this Tour de France thing right now. The third week in a row has had its last-minute release date.
June 24
Capcom Fighting Collection (PC, NS, PS4, XBO)
This is a collection of 10 classic Capcom fighting games in Street Fighter, Darkstalkers and Super Puzzle Fighter.
Fire Emblem Heroes: Three Hopes (NS)
Probably the biggest release of the week. The latest in Nintendo’s association with Koei-Tecmo in Musou games, Fire Emblem Heroes: Three Hopes is a canon prequel to Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Although the tutorial is set during the time of the characters in the Officers’ Academy, the main campaign follows Edelgard, Dimitri and Claude in the war.
This will be the second game of Fire Emblem Warriors and will be a must-have game for those who are still obsessed with the FH: TH crew. Obviously, Musou’s games are a different beast compared to the slower, turn-based strategy of the main Fire Emblem franchise. While strategy plays an important role in all of Musou’s games, the joy of the genre comes from joining an unlikely group of enemies and destroying them with disproportionate melee attacks.
We won’t have a revision code on hand until launch day, so we’ll get to work with you all this weekend.
Pokémon Snap (NS)
One of the most cherished curiosities of Nintendo’s long and historic library. A game that left such an indelible mark on a generation of gamers who chased Nintendo until a 20-year sequel. Comes with the Nintendo Switch Online expansion pack.
