Although the launch of Nothing Phone 1 is still a month away, the company has already begun to show what the device will be to help generate hype. From afar, the device appears to be a mix of the back of the iPhone X (with its dual pill-shaped camera island) and the flat edges of the iPhone 12. However, the back cover here is transparent, revealing a large wireless charging coil, several screws (something you don’t really see on phones these days) and a mysterious pattern that founder Carl Pei explained earlier.
Nothing provided further details in these teaser posts, but we imagine the company still has some tricks up its sleeve, especially as Pei will allow “an open and diverse product ecosystem” with this device. So far, we know that the Phone 1 will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset (Engadget understands that it will be a mid-range processor) and the Android-like Nothing Pure operating system with a bit of design. The Nothing design team is led by former Dyson chief designer Adam Bates, who joined the company in early 2022.
Nothing Phone 1 will launch in London at 16:00 BST / 11:00 EST on July 12th. Live playback will be available, but you will need to confirm confirmation in advance.
