Thousands of people from across the country flocked to Bournemouth today as Britain enjoyed its hottest day of the year.
Visitors and locals alike sunbathe on the beach when temperatures skyrocketed around 30 ºC, and Bournemouth Beach is easily the busiest year-round.
People were seen splashing in the sea and sunbathing on the sand after the Met Office issued a Level 2 heat alert for the entire Southwest region.

Salah, visiting from London, came here to spend a fun day on the beach away from the capital. He said: “It’s even hotter in London, but it’s much better to be by the sea.
“Bournemouth is a much better place to be than London in the summer.”
Student Austin Ferrari, along with his girlfriend Mia Barrow, were on the beach not only enjoying the sun, sea and sand, but also delicious food. Austin said, “I’m having a great time. The sun is shining and this sausage is amazing!”
Not everyone enjoyed the blue sky, though. Jack Carson revealed that he and the sun don’t get along, saying, “I’m ginger, my face is as red as my hair!”

Nicola Matthews, along with her boyfriend Ben, had driven all the way from the West Midlands to spend a day at the beach. She said: “We both had a day off, so we thought, ‘Why not?’
“We got up early so we could get here before lunch and have a day off, but the traffic was still bad.”
Coastal parking lots filled quickly at 11 a.m., with car queues waiting to park in the parking lots by the sea.

Elsewhere, hundreds of people also went down to Mudeford Sandbank Beach to soak up the rays.
There were queues of people waiting for ice cream and chips, with a girl busy with her grandmother making bubbles.
Tomorrow’s weather will be 27ºC highs in Bournemouth and clouds. Met Office says temperatures will be 18 ºC on Sunday.
