Tom Rogic is retiring from the Socceroos squad

Football Australia reported today that Tom Rogic has notified Socceroos staff of his decision to retire from the Australia national team by June 2022, citing personal reasons.

Socceroos head coach Graham Arnold said it was unfortunate that Rogic could not join the squad in the Middle East, while reaffirming his belief in players who are already gathered in Doha.

“My focus now has to be on the players we have here in Qatar,” Arnold said. “We have selected an expanded team of quality players and I think we will get something special for Australia over the next two weeks.”

No additional players will be called up to the Socceroos squad after Rogic’s retirement.
