AEW President and ROH owner Tony Khan recently spoke with pro-wrestling media after last night’s Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view, where Khan answered several questions including why he decided to reference Vince McMahon’s retirement on Twitter when promoting Rampage. The highlights are below.
He says that of the Big Three (WWE, NJPW, AEW) he is the longest serving CEO:
“Seriously, I meant AEW Rampage was on, and just because of the big major companies, what I would consider quote-unquote ‘The Big Three’, I’m now the longest [CEO]. Of couse, [NJPW’s Takami] Ohbari and now there is also a new CEO.”
He says he did it mostly just to get more eyes on Rampage:
“So I think if you consider it professional wrestling, then I think it’s a fair statement. I just thought it was a statement of fact, it was a note to promote Rampage. But that’s it, and I can’t say anything else about it . But I thought it was a great show tonight, and obviously, maybe, hopefully, I got some eyes on Rampage. And I really care about Rampage.”
