Toronto police arrest a man after a deadly shooting near Union Station

A man has been arrested after a deadly shooting in downtown Toronto that briefly led to the closure of Union Station.

Toronto police announced they had arrested a 26-year-old man from Vaughan on Wednesday afternoon.

On July 16, Toronto police responded to reports of a shooting on the outskirts of Union Station and Scotland Arena in the York Street and Bremner Boulevard area around 7:30 p.m.

Police said Stephon Little-McClacken, 24, of Toronto was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers said initial investigative efforts led them to believe the shooting was a target.

One fled south to Lakeshore, while the other ran to Union Station, causing the blockade.

Toronto police named Nirusan Shakespearethas as the man they had arrested.

He appeared in court on Wednesday.
