Huge swaths of Britain are without any rail services this week with coordinated strikes bringing the country’s transport network to a standstill after the latest talks failed to resolve a dispute over pay, jobs and conditions.
The next day of strike is scheduled for Wednesday, July 27.
Major transport hubs across the UK will see a significantly reduced service, and the public is being warned to only travel by train if their journey is essential.
A reduced service will also be running on Thursday 28 July with some trains starting later than normal.
Which trains run on strike days?
Next West Coast
Avanti West Coast will announce its revised schedule as soon as possible and provide more information once it has been announced.

A reduced service will run from 7.30am to 6.30pm, which will be less than a third of normal service levels.
Two trains per hour will run from London Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness via Laindon, with the same number of trains running from London to Pitsea via Rainham. There will be no trains through Ockendon or Chafford Hundred.
Caledonian Sleeper
Although Caledonian Sleeper staff are not taking part in the strike, the action will still affect operations. Consequently, all services scheduled for Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 July are cancelled.
Chiltern Railways
Chiltern is advising customers that they will be running an extremely limited service, with no replacement bus service.
As a result, only one train per hour will run from London Marylebone to Oxford Parkway, Banbury, Aylesbury and between Aylesbury Vale Parkway and Amersham respectively.
The service will run between 8am and 5pm, with no trains north of Banbury.
Fields through
CrossCountry says it will run a very limited service, warning customers should only travel where necessary.
On 27 July, there are no northbound services to Birmingham New Street from Southampton until 8.10am and no services from Birmingham New Street to Southampton after 3.04pm. There is a very reduced service between Plymouth-Bristol-Birmingham-Edinburgh on 27 July and disruption to all journeys across the country on 28 July.
Services between Birmingham and Leicester are slightly reduced on 27 July.
East Midlands Railway
Only one train per hour will run Nottingham-London and Sheffield-London. Away from the capital, only one train per hour will run from Nottingham to Derby and Leicester respectively.
There will also be one train running hourly between Derby and Matlock.
A reduced service will also operate on Thursday 28 July with services from 7am and disruptions throughout the day.
Elizabeth Line
London’s new rail service will be affected by the strikes, with just two trains an hour running from London Paddington to Reading and Heathrow respectively.
In the east of the capital there will be a reduced service before 5pm. 12 trains will run every hour from Paddington to Abbey Wood before this number drops to six after 5pm.
Only two trains will run every hour between 7.30am and 5.30pm from London Liverpool Street to Shenfield.
Gatwick Express
All Gatwick Express trains are canceled on Wednesday 27 July.
Grand Central
Only three trains will run between London and Sunderland on July 27, with all services starting and ending at Northallerton.
On the west side, again just three trains will run, with services starting and ending at Wakefield Kirkgate. The only stop on these services will be Doncaster.
Great North
Two trains per hour will run between London Bridge and Brighton on July 27 on the Great Northern and Thameslink routes. This will also be the case for journeys from London Bridge to Gatwick Airport and the three bridges.
From London St Pancras International, there will be two trains per hour to Bedford and Luton.
One train per hour will run between London King’s Cross and Ely, and there will be an additional train between Cambridge and Ely once an hour. There will also be one train per hour between King’s Cross and Cambridge, with two per hour for journeys from King’s Cross to Peterborough, Welywn Garden City and Stevenage via Hertford North.
On July 28, trains will start at 7:00 a.m. and run on a Sunday service.
Great Western Rail
There will be major disruption on Great Western Rail, with no services to Cornwall, Devon, South Wales or the Wessex Main Line on Wednesday 27 July.
Great Anglia
A greatly reduced service will only operate between London Liverpool Street and Norwich, Colchester, Southend Victoria and Cambridge.
The Stansted Express will run, but also with a reduced service for part of the day.
Heathrow Express
A reduced half-hourly service will run between 7.30am and 6.30pm on 27 July.
helmet trains
Services will run between Doncaster and London Kings Cross between 7.30am and 6.30pm only.
Island Line
A normal service will be held as there is no strike.
LNER
LNER will operate a reduced service of two trains per hour between Edinburgh and London, and one train per hour between Leeds and London.
London North Western Railway
A limited service will only run between Crewe – Birmingham New Street and London Euston – Birmingham New Street between 7.30am and 6.30pm.
London Overground
There will be major disruption to London Overground. On July 27 there will be no service between Romford and Upminster, Barking and Barking Riverside, Surrey Quays and New Cross; and Kilburn High Road and Euston. There will be no service between Camden Road and Stratford until 12.00 and there will be no service between Sydenham and Crystal Palace until 10.00.
A minimal service will be in operation on 28 July, with normal service resuming around midday, while no service will operate on 30 July.
Lumo
Only two trains leave Stevenage traveling northbound on July 26, with a single departure on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th at 12.41pm.
There is a reduced service from King’s Cross, Morpeth, Newcastle and Edinburgh on 26, 27 and 28 July.
Merseyrail
On July 27, Merseyrail will be hit by staff shortages, running an hourly service calling at selected stations between 7.30am and 6.30pm only.
There will be no trains from Chester and Ellesmere Port and there will be no service on the Hunts Cross line.
north
On 27 July, there is minimal disruption between Darlington and Saltburn. There are disruptions between Liverpool and Alderley Edge services and on the York-Leeds route there will be no trains departing or arriving at Ulleskelf and Church Fenton.
There are severe disruptions on the route between Ilkley and Leeds or Bradford Forster Square, as well as on the Skipton to Leeds route.
There is minimal disruption on the Sheffield-Leeds route, with regular trains from Leeds to Sheffield starting at 7.48am, as well as hourly trains between Leeds and Bradford Forster Square.
No other service will work.
ScotRail
ScotRail will run a very limited service on July 27 between 7.30am and 6.30pm, with two trains per hour between Edinburgh and Glasgow via Falkirk High; two trains per hour between Edinburgh and Bathgate; two per hour between Glasgow and Hamilton/Larkhall; and two per hour for Glasgow-Lanark.
There will be one train per hour between Edinburgh and Glasgow via Shotts.
South Western Railway
A very limited service will run between 7.15am and 6.30pm on some routes on July 27, with the rest of the network closed. Running trains are expected to be very busy.
There are two trains per hour in both directions between London Waterloo and Southampton Central, as well as two per hour between London Waterloo and Basingstoke.
There will be four trains per hour in both directions between London Waterloo and Woking, and four per hour between London Waterloo and Windsor, also running in both directions.
South East
On July 27, commuters are being warned to expect severe disruption, with only 44 of 180 stations open and no rail replacement bus services running. The last trains back to London will also run much earlier than usual, and passengers may also not be able to board trains where there is a limited service, particularly at Ashford and Ebbsfleet.
On July 28, there will be no service before 7:00 a.m. and there will be no service on July 30.
south
On July 27, two trains per hour will run between London Victoria and Brighton; London and Brighton Bridge; London Bridge and Gatwick Airport; and between London Bridge and the Three Bridges.
There will also be a limited service between London Victoria and Sutton, Epsom Downs and West Croydon.
On July 28, services will begin from 7:00 a.m. and a Sunday service will operate.
TransPennine Express
A very limited service will run on July 27, with just five departures each from Preston to Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport throughout the day. There are also disruptions on the route between Manchester Piccadilly and York, and on the Newcastle-Edinburgh route.
There is also a limited service between Cleethorpes and Sheffield.
Transport for Wales
On July 27 there will be a reduced service between Cardiff Central and Treherbert, Aberdare, Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney, while an hourly shuttle service will operate between Cardiff and Newport from 7.30am to 6.30pm.
No other service will work.
West Midlands Railway
A limited service will run on July 27 between 7.30am and 6pm, with one train per hour between Lichfield Trent Valley and Redditch; one train per hour between Lichfield Trent Valley and Bromsgrove each way, while from 5pm departures from Lichfield Trent Valley will only run to Birmingham New Street.
Additional morning services will run between Birmingham New Street–Redditch and Birmingham New Street–Lichfield Trent Valley.
There will be one train each way between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street, calling at all local stations, and one train per hour each way between Birmingham New Street and Crewe.
