Potential Tropical Cyclone 1 continues to move away from the state of Florida tonight after heavy rains in South Florida on Friday and Saturday.
As of Saturday’s 23:00 warning, the storm’s forward speed is up to 20 mph as it moves northeast from the state of the sun. The intensity of the storm has not changed much since today with sustained winds of 45 mph.
As shown in the satellite images, PTC1 is still extremely unbalanced with no significant rainfall west of the center of circulation and heavy rainfall east far away from the center of the storm.
As PTC 1 moves away from Florida, our weather will improve as the decrease in air behind the system reduces the chances of rain.
Bermuda seems to be the next stop on the system, with chances of rain on the island Monday morning as the center of the storm remains in the northwest of the region.
Before the potential tropical cyclone 1 left Florida, heavy rains fell in areas of South Florida. In Lee and Collier counties, rainfall totals ended up exceeding 4 inches by more than 7 inches for most of the East Coast metropolitan areas of Broward and Miami-Dade counties.
As expected, lower amounts of rain were observed further north in the city of Fort Myers in DeSoto and Charlotte counties.
