As rumors about God of War: Ragnarok’s release date swirl, the game’s director, Cory Barlog, has called for everyone to calm down.

“Dear all,” Barlog’s tweet says. “If it were up to me, I would share all the information when I know it. But it’s not up to me. So please be patient. I promise things will be shared as soon as possible. We make games for you. We can play games thanks to you. “
Barlog’s statement comes after weeks of growing speculation that the announcement of the release date is imminent. Beyond a recognition that God of War: Ragnarok would arrive in 2022, Sony has yet to plant a clear banner for its release.
As things stand now, The Last of Us Part I is the only major PlayStation title to be released before the end of the year. This leaves PlayStation with a major hole in its programming during the lucrative Christmas season. This is the void that fans believe God of War: Ragnarok is ready to fill.
PlayStation, of course, is not on this ship by itself. Xbox has seen its major fourth-quarter releases, Starfield and Redfall, fall by 2023. A year-end power gap has begun to form, with only a handful of major third-party titles setting firm dates. .
Twitter’s current and firm belief is that PlayStation will announce the date through their social media accounts. Sony, in the recent past, has preferred to announce the release dates of early games through a State of Play broadcast. While a God of War: Ragnarok State of Play to announce the date would not come as a surprise, there is currently no specific indication that Sony intends to abandon a new issue in the immediate future.
So for now, we’re still locked in a game of wait and see.
