Twitter is testing a new feature to allow two users to co-author a tweet

San Francisco: The microblogging site Twitter has confirmed that it has begun testing a new feature, CoTweets, which allows two accounts to be co-authors of a tweet and both to be tagged in a single tweet.

The platform said this new feature is now available to some users for a limited time after the company began experimenting with the idea earlier this year, reports The Verge.

“We continue to explore new ways for people to collaborate on Twitter,” Twitter spokesman Joseph J. Nunez said in a statement on the website.

“We are testing CoTweets for a limited time to find out how people and brands can use this feature to grow and reach new audiences, and strengthen their collaborations with other accounts,” Núñez added.

In a tweet from the Twitter Create account, the company confirmed that the feature is available for selected accounts in the US, Canada and Korea.

Several Twitter users have been testing this feature and the experience allows the lead author of the tweet to invite someone else to be tagged in the tweet and discuss the content by DM, according to the report.

The second account must approve the co-author tweet, and the resulting tweet shows that it is co-authored by two people, but the responses appear to be directed only at the main author of the tweet, he added.
