Two men have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a teenager on a tram in April, according to police.
Two men have been arrested for allegedly blatantly assaulting a teenager on a tram south of Melbourne.
Victorian police said Sunday they had charged two men in connection with the alleged assault on a 15-year-old boy in April.
Police charged a 40-year-old South Melbourne man with fighting and committing a felony charge while on bail.
He was due to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Sunday.
A 37-year-old man from St Kilda was charged with brawling and released on bail before appearing in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 26 October.
The teenager was traveling to Southern Cross station around 9.15pm on Saturday 23 April when two unknown men boarded a tram near Ferrars Street.
Police allege that two men were involved in a verbal confrontation with the teenager before they assaulted the 15-year-old, including his blow to the head several times.
The tram stopped and the men fled the scene, police said.
Several passengers witnessed the attack and the teenager, from Altham, north of the city, was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.
