Two CF-18 Hornets fly over central Ottawa

Two fighter jets flew over downtown Ottawa Monday morning to commemorate D-Day.

The Royal Canadian Air Force’s CF-18 Hornets flew over the National War Memorial at 11:05 a.m. Monday.

“RCAF aircraft overflights are carefully planned and closely monitored for public safety, and depend on weather and flight conditions,” the RCAF said in a press release before the overflight.

June 6, 1944 was the day of the Normandy landings, central to the Western Allied efforts to liberate Europe from Nazi Germany.
