Two fighter jets flew over downtown Ottawa Monday morning to commemorate D-Day.
The Royal Canadian Air Force’s CF-18 Hornets flew over the National War Memorial at 11:05 a.m. Monday.
“RCAF aircraft overflights are carefully planned and closely monitored for public safety, and depend on weather and flight conditions,” the RCAF said in a press release before the overflight.
June 6, 1944 was the day of the Normandy landings, central to the Western Allied efforts to liberate Europe from Nazi Germany.
