On June 11, 2022, at approximately 10:22 p.m., members of the Northumberland OPP, Alnwick Haldimand Fire and Northumberland Emergency Medical Services responded to a fatal collision involving a car and an ATV on County Rd 18 and Roseneath Landing in Alnwick Haldimand.
Two ATV occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. It was observed that a person left the place on foot and was arrested shortly afterwards.
As a result of the investigation, James Hartwick (67) of Alderville First Nation was arrested and charged with the following offenses:
- Operation causing death
- Operation causing death
- Impaired surgery: blood alcohol concentration (80 more)
- It does not stop in an accident that causes death
- It does not stop in an accident that causes death
The defendant was arrested for bail and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice on June 12, 2022.
