Two dead in Aldi’s shooting after a gunman opened fire on a German supermarket

The bodies of two people have been found after a gunman started firing at an Aldi supermarket in Germany. Police are currently at the scene, which occurred around 1 p.m. local time.

Officers say there is no risk to the general public after the shooting in Schwalmstadt-Treysa. According to newspaper reports, eyewitnesses said a man followed a woman to the supermarket. He is understood to have called for help.

However, the gunman shot him and then he is believed to have been shot. No other people are believed to have been involved.

According to the HNA newspaper, the two who died were a 53-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man. There are believed to be several police cars remaining around the building.
