Two dramatic separate chases meander through the San Gabriel Valley

WEST COVINA (KABC) – Two suspects recklessly fled the authorities at high speed in two different chases that took place in the same area of the San Gabriel Valley on Monday night.

The first chase involved a domestic violence suspect who fled West Covina police for more than an hour. After it crashed and crashed, a tense barricade situation developed as it refused to surrender.

Although this barricade continued, a second chase began to unfold just a few blocks from West Covina.

Suspicious hunting of domestic violence

The first chase began in the West Covina area shortly before 10 p.m. A suspect wanted for domestic violence and possibly rape fled at high speed on Highway 10, about 710 and 105 heading south and drove briefly through surface streets in Inglewood. Eventually, the Scion made its way back on Highway 105 eastbound.

At least six West Covina police off-road vehicles followed the suspect closely at high speeds, sometimes reaching about 100 mph on the highway. It appears they did not apply for CHP assistance, although the agency was pending.

Police say the suspect was wanted for domestic violence and possibly rape.

At 11 p.m., more than an hour after the chase began, a police cruiser crashed into the back of the Scion in a PIT maneuver that made it spin above average. The right front tire spun and the tire deflated when the car crashed into a light pole.

At first it looked like this would end the chase, but the vehicle pulled away from the mast and took off again.

The driver stopped shortly after and it looked like it was over again as officers approached with their weapons unholstered.

Once again, the car took off and drove fast, though sparks were fired when the bare wheel scratched the ground.

Eventually, the vehicle crashed into the back of a car parked in West Covina and a police SUV hit it on the street.

But again, the suspect refused to surrender, fired his engine and spun the damaged wheel into place, causing sparks and a cloud of smoke.

At one point, when he was trapped, it appeared that the suspect had thrown an object, possibly a wrench, out of the vehicle.

The second police chase begins in West Covina

As the barricade continued, a second police chase ensued in which sheriff’s officers chasing a stolen vehicle developed within walking distance.

That stolen car drove quickly through the eastern neighborhoods of the San Gabriel Valley. At one point, it stopped briefly and at least two passengers jumped and then the vehicle continued.

The stolen car was passing red traffic lights and was speeding through the surface streets with at least one sheriff’s unit nearby.
