New South Wales police have seized two kangaroos and firearms after searching a car during a four-day operation in Hunter Valley.
Police arrested a 27-year-old man on Hunter Road, north of Muswellbrook, on June 4 after it was allegedly discovered that he was illegally possessing two young kangaroos.
In NSW, native mammals such as kangaroos, quails, and sugar gliders cannot be kept as pets.

The joeys were taken to a wildlife care center where they received treatment.
After police searched the vehicle, they also found ammunition and firearms, which were confiscated for forensic examination.
The man was arrested and his gun license was suspended.
He has since been released and is awaiting further investigation.
The attack was part of Operation Devil Ark, which was set up by officers from the Rural Crime Prevention Team in the Hunter Valley Police District.
It targets rural crime such as illegal hunting, entry and livestock movements.
