Two Los Angeles police officers are killed in a shooting

Two Los Angeles police officers who were rushed to hospital Tuesday after a shooting were killed, authorities said.

Authorities responded at the intersection of Garvey and Central avenues. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said two El Monte police officers had been shot by a suspect.

Police are investigating after two officers from the El Monte police department were shot dead on Tuesday.

The two officers were said to be in serious condition immediately after the shooting and eventually succumbed to their injuries, El Monte police said.

A suspect was also shot dead, but his condition was unknown, said the department, which is collaborating in the investigation. Details of the shooting were not disclosed.

“LASD sends its best wishes for a healthy and speedy recovery to El Monte agents who were shot during their service tonight,” the agency tweeted Tuesday evening.

The incident came after a Phoenix police officer was shot hours earlier and a California Highway Patrol officer was shot several times Monday night in Los Angeles.
