In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS said the production team was at the Capitol on Wednesday and Thursday to record a comedy segment with Triumph.
“His interviews at the Capitol were pre-authorized and organized through congressional aides of the members interviewed,” the network said. “After leaving the members’ offices at their last interview of the day, the production team stayed to film stand-ups and other final comedy elements in theaters when they were arrested by Capitol police.”
The USCP statement said the case remains “an active criminal investigation and could lead to additional criminal charges.” Capitol police, moving away from the usual practice, refused to provide the names of the people who were arrested.
